As a dynamic and important component of the Earth system, sea ice has been regarded as a 'canary in the coal mine' for climate change. To improve its representation in large-scale global climate models, I create high resolution models of sea ice evolution that constrain the interdependence of the polar ocean-atmosphere-sea ice system.
